In today's episode of "Good Advert/Bad Advert": Using photos of men to inspire you to buy something you don't need.
American Apparel. This one popped up on my Facebook page. Dear AA: As difficult as it would be to pick out the "worst" photo in your white-background, aloof-model campaign, this is certainly the ugliest. When the page loaded I was distracted by the hideousness of the model, and I'm still not sure if this is supposed to be an ugly man or a hirsute woman. Kudos to you for managing to make the Benetton models of the 90's look like Cindy Crawford and David Beckham. And for cementing the certainty that I will never purchase any of your 75 different styles of snotty overpriced tee-shirt.
The (very) GOOD:
Davidoff Adventure: Seeing this ad makes me want to buy this cologne for my man. Indeed, unless it smells like festering monkey balls, there is a distinct possibility I will swing by my local department store and procure a bottle. Simply because that, my friends, is one freaking hot photo of Ewan McGregor. I am not one for swooning or being silly over celebrities, but I do declare that is one swoon-worthy picture. Brah-vo, Davidoff.
