I do not heart Tom Cruise.

It is the fashion these days to jump high atop the “Tom Cruise is batshit crazy” bandwagon, but let it be known that I have been saying this for years.  I cannot stand the man or his movies- he is the most arrogant and ego-centric celebrity that the Hollywood machine has produced in recent years, and I am still pissed that the time I invested in 1994 watching Jerry Maguire is two hours of my life that I will never get back. I could have been doing something so much more productive and pleasant with those two lost hours, such as giving myself some back-alley botox injections or learning the fine art of self-dentistry.

I think Katie Holmes is a “beard,” but not in the traditional sense of the word. She has been hired (and we hear that there is a contractual obligation involved) to divert the world’s attention from the truth, which is that the only person Tom Cruise gives a shit about it Tom Cruise. (And maybe his messiah, L. Ron “Want money- Start a Cult” Hubbard) What annoys me the most is that anyone CARES. Hell, I’m annoyed that I’m even writing about it.

The relationship with Holmes is an obvious sham, the devotion to Scientology is uber-creepy, and his inflated sense of importance would be laughable if he wasn’t so damn serious about it. This is for you, Tom…you listening? YOU ARE AN ACTOR. YOU HAVE NOT CURED ANY DISEASES OR SAVED ANY CHILDREN FROM DROWNING. YOU PRETEND FOR A LIVING. THIS MAY BE A FUN WAY TO MAKE MONEY AND GET ATTENTION, BUT IT DOESN’T MAKE YOU ANY MORE IMPORTANT THAN ANYONE ELSE. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME. 

And the Scientology thing? Well…I saw the Firm, and I think it is pretty much the same deal. I’m sure all the ire I feel towards Cruise stems from my body thetans, anyway.

I’m ending my rant now, although I could go on for days. I have a huge problem with how our society picks celebrities and role models, but that is for another post. For the record, I thought that Rain Man was a pretty good movie. And I think that Nicole Kidman is a much more beautiful and talented actor than Cruise any day.

I swear that Tom Cruise's nose has grown lately. I just don't remember it being Pinochio-esque. And, I agree. Nicole Kidman was smart to rid herself of him.
