Much to report, but first a bit o’ sad news. Yesterday my beloved iPod started clicking and freaking out, then it died. I did my best to revive it (in this case “my best” means that I reset it, yelled at it, petted it, and smacked it with my palm a few times), but alas, it was all for naught. Truthfully, it had been a little wonky lately, so it shouldn’t have been a great shock, but am verrah sad nonetheless.
Driving to work today I scanned the car for Cds…I haven’t listened to a CD in years, except to rip it into my iTunes. I had “10,000 Days” in the glove compartment (which, as DCfC points out, is inaccurately named), so I popped that in. More tragedy…after about three songs, I thought, “It would be nice to listen to Lateralus. That’s a great song.” I reached down to click over to that album before I realized that I COULDN’T. No discography, no prog playlists, nothing but the 11 tracks on that one specific disc were available for my listening pleasure.
I’m just too broken up about the whole thing to write more at this moment. Guess I’ll go try to work.
Currently Listening to (via iTunes, thanks): A Pain That I'm Used To, by Depeche Mode
I'm going to have to do something with mine also. The battery lasts 10 minutes on a good day. So it's 70 bucks for a three year old iPod to get a new battery or 300 bucks for the new iPod I want.

My deepest condolences to you! That new purple jacket didn't help in it's quest for a long and useful life. I don't even wanna think that my beloved device might someday be a mere paperweight. My daughter dribbled water on it one time and I was sick for an hour waiting for it to dry and test to see if it still worked. All turned out well, but Oy Vey!
