MerleFest 2010

*tap tap* Is this thing on?

OK, so I'm using Merlefest blogging as a way to jump back in to updating this page. Some observations so far:

- I hate mic stands and I want them to die. If you play the fiddle, and must be micced, there won't be any good photos of you. I'm sorry. The stand-up bass guys get all the love, because the friggin stand isn't in their faces. 

 -So far I've shot Balsam Range, Andy May & The Belleville Outfit (in the pic below)  

6:07 pm - Just shot The Duhks. Lead singer has new hair color, bandwide tattoo count seems about the same. They're a fiddle player down, though. Wonder what happened to her?

- I am handholding the 300mm. My arms are killing me already. Hey you, dude with the point-and-shoot on the monopod up front? Yeah, that is bad and you should feel bad. Wimp. I think I have spare set of balls you can borrow.  

- The Zac Brown band has brought a lot of stuff. The backstage area is littered with amps, lighting rigs and various black and silver cases with line green tape that reads (in Sharpie, of course) "Zac Brown Band."
